Author Guidelines

The Journal of Current Opinion in Crop Science is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access online journal that publishes all areas of plant science within a minimum time frame.

Submission of the manuscript in the broad areas of botany, plant breeding, genetics, seed science, plant biotechnology, molecular genetics, nanotechnology, bioinformatics, biochemistry, phytochemistry, crop physiology, crop production, plant and soil nutrition and agro-ecology, pest and disease resistance, agricultural microbiology, plant-based functional food, food composition analysis, and nutritional chemistry is invited. Please note that this journal only publishes manuscripts in English.

Journal of Current Opinion in Crop Science accepts the following types of articles:

  • Original research articles
  • Short communications
  • Review articles

Research article:

  • Original full-length research articles should be written with the following elements in the following order: title page; abstract; keywords; introduction; materials and methods; result; discussion or results and discussion; acknowledgments; declaration of conflict of interest statement; author contributions statements; references; table(s) with caption(s); figures with figure captions.
  • All the quantitative or biometric data analysis needs to be performed on at least three biological or technical replicates to assess significance. This refers to phenotypic data measurements, omic studies, and expression analysis. Studies that do not fulfil these requirements will not be considered for a review process.
  • The manuscript should not exceed 20 pages, including tables, figures, figure captions, and up to 6,000 words (including figures and tables, except the title page). Line space should be 1.5 using the new roman font, and the font size should be 12 points.
  • An unstructured abstract should contain between 150 and 200 words.
  • The manuscript should contain a minimum of 3 keywords or a maximum of 7 keywords.
  • The manuscript title should be more attractive and discoverable.

Short Communications:

  • Short communications articles should be written with the following elements in the following order: title page; abstract; keywords; introduction; experimental section (should be presented in very short); Results and discussion should be combined into a single section: acknowledgments, declaration of conflict of interest statement, author contributions statements, references, table(s) with captions, and figures with figure captions.
  • The manuscript should not exceed 6 pages, inclusive of tables, figures, figure captions, up to 2,000 words (including figures and tables, except the title page). Line space should be 1.5 using times new roman font, and font size should be 12 points. The maximum number of both tables and figures is 3 (1 table and 2 figures, or 2 tables and 1 figure).
  • An unstructured abstract should contain a maximum of 150 words.
  • The manuscript should contain a minimum of 3 of keywords or a maximum of 7 keywords.
  • The manuscript title should be attractive and discoverable.

Review articles:

  • Review articles should be written with the following elements in the following order: title page; abstract; keywords; introduction; main text; acknowledgments; declaration of conflict of interest statement; author contributions statements; references; table(s) with caption(s); figures with figure captions.
  • The manuscript should not exceed 25 pages, inclusive of tables, figures, figure captions, or up to 7,000 words (including figures and tables, except the title page). Line space is 1.5 using Times new Roman font, and font size should be 12 points.

REFERENCES

In text citation, references should be cited as follows: Single author (Ashokkumar, 2020); two authors (Warkentin and Jha, 2019); three or more authors (Sivakumar et al., 2014). References in the text should be listed chronologically separated by semicolon, e.g. (Meyers, 1999; Arun and Karthik, 2005; Murugan et al., 2010; Senthilkumar et al., 2015; John et al., 2020). Parenthetical citation: Duckworth et al., 2019), (Aron et al., 2019; Dillard, 2020), Narrative citation: Duckworth et al. (2019), Aron et al. (2019), and Dillard (2020).

Web references:

The full URL should be given in text as a citation, if no other data are known. If the authors, year, and title of the documents are known and the reference is taken from a website, the URL address has to be mentioned after these data.

Peer Review

Journal of Current opinion in crop science journal is loyal to peer-review reliability and keeping the utmost standards of review. Once your manuscript has been assessed for suitability by the editor, it will then be single or double-blind peer-reviewed by independent, anonymous expert referees.

Article Publication Charges (APC)

There are no submission fees, publication fees, or page charges for this journal for manuscript submission on or before December 31, 2024.

However,  after getting the NAAS rate, the journal will ask for the publication fee in future. The expected fee will be Rs. 3000 for Indian authors and 100 USD and 50 USD for authors from developed and developing countries, respectively.

Why will we charge?

Since JCOCS does not receive financial support from any organization/ institution, or government, obtaining the publication fee from the authors is required. The cost is utilized for plagiarism detection, DOI registration, website administration, employee pay, hosting services, and others. We are not charging a processing fee, but the author has to pay only the publication fee.

Article Withdrawal Charges 

If an author requests to withdraw the article after it has been peer-reviewed or after it has been typeset (but not yet published) he/she will be charged according to the following: For India Rs. 1000/- & for other countries USD 50 per article (after peer-review), and Rs. 1500/- for India & USD 75 for other countries per article (after peer review and typesetting). However, withdrawal is not possible after publication.

Plagiarism Policy

The submissions are analyzed using Turnitin plagiarism detection software. Upon detection of plagiarism, the COPE plagiarism guidelines will be followed. The manuscript with plagiarised content of more than 20% will be rejected by the editor without processing for peer review.

Conflict of interest 

If there is a conflict of interest during the review process or after acceptance and publication, the journal will not be responsible for investigating or arbitrating. The authors should take responsibility for resolving the dispute themselves. If this is not possible, the journal reserves the right to withdraw the manuscript from the editorial process. The journal reserves the right to retract the manuscript if it is published.

Retractions Policy

Suppose anyone points out a factual error in the published manuscript. In that case, the editor is responsible for correcting the errors in the manuscript with the consent and support of the corresponding author. If there is no chance to resolve the error by the corresponding author and editor, the manuscript could be retracted without any tolerance. Also, the duplicated publication will be retracted after asking for clarifications from the corresponding author, even if he is not able to respond back.
